Kathryn Biel

Ah, my friend Kathryn has gone and written me another book, Live for This. If you’re looking for a book about strong woman facing life’s troubles and coming out on top, this is the book for you! An aside, Facebook thinks Kathryn and I are twins and we’ve decided to let them 🙂 KathryB

I don’t like bucket lists because they remind me that I won’t always be here. On the other hand, I do get a perverse sense of pleasure from crossing things off a to-do list, so it could go either way. If I had to make a bucket list that had absolutely no grounds in reality or feasibility, here’s what it would be:

  1. See penguins in the wild (preferably in New Zealand). They’re my absolute favorite animal. I wouldn’t mind spending a week (ok, a day) hanging out with them.
  2. Sing back up for Jimmy Buffet (I’d be ok if my mike weren’t actually on—it might be better that way)
  3. Make the New York Times Bestsellers list
  4. Own and live in an ocean-view beach house (probably dependent upon #3 to make this happen). I’m pretty sure it would be in Cape May, NJ, which is my favorite place. Nothing fancy, just with a great view where I can write, drink coffee, and watch dolphins every day.
  5. See my grandchildren. My kids are only 12 and 8, so this won’t happen for a while. This’d BETTER NOT happen for a while, do you hear me Sophia Dorothy?
Here are the 5 things I NEVER want to do:
  1. Go on Survivor or Fear Factor and have to eat bugs. Actually, I need to never eat bugs period.
  2. Have another baby. This is selfish, I know, but now that I’m 40, I don’t think I could go through it all again. I love my kids and the life we have, and if we had to start over, I don’t know that I have it in me to give a new little person what he or she would need.
  3. Get shipwrecked and have to resort to cannibalism to survive. I don’t think that needs more explanation.
  4. Have a pet tarantula.
  5. Have my cell phone battery totally die. Truth be told, if my battery is below 40%, I start to get a little angina. I have some lovely friends who send me screen shots when their phone batteries are low, just to stress me out.
